The Affordable Care Act

In 2010, President Barack Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law. Also known as the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare, it was a complete reform of the American health system.

The Affordable Care Act made it more affordable for citizens without health insurance to obtain health coverage. The general idea behind it meant the government pays more for your health insurance, while you pay less.

Before the Affordable Care Act was signed, many people in need of insurance couldn’t afford the high premiums and costs due to pre-existing conditions or other personal expenses. That’s why the Act brings many benefits to those who don’t have medical insurance by making it more affordable across the board. These benefits include the following:
